The Program in Child Affective and Anxiety Disorders is located at the following address: Duke Child and Family Study Center (919) 416-2447 For directions and a map, click here. PCAAD has the dual mission. First, we provide high quality clinical care for children and adolescents suffering from a range of anxiety and affective disorders. Second, we work as researchers to expand what is known about the causes, diagnosis and treatment of affective and anxiety disorders in youth. Much of our clinical care is provided in the context of our research projects. Currently, we are enrolling subjects in studies of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and adolescents who have recently attempted suicide. Other recent work includes the Treatment of Adolescents with Depression Study (TADS) and the Pediatric Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Treatment Study (POTS). Duke was the the coordinating site for both studies. We make every effort to provide the best available care to all communities, while ensuring that our research is not applicable to a limited demographic. This is done by coordinating with other sites throughout the country and a firm commitment to working with a diverse population. In addition to research studies, the PCAAD program provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment based on current research in the area of childhood anxiety and mood disorders.
